This was my breakfast which was made with help from the Vitamix. I used three scrambled eggs (from my carton mishap yesterday), some old milk (still not sour, but on the edge), walnuts, a little oil and some baking powder, vanilla extract, cinamon and a little bit of yogurt, flax seed and 1.5 apples -- cores and all. I whizzed this all up and then added two cups of wheat flour and gave it a another whizz. Once it was mixed up, I added some slivered almonds and then cook my panny cakes on the cast iron griddle -- sprinked with sesame seeds. TBG made the bacon. I topped mine with vanilla yogurt and more almonds. We have leftover pannycakes for breakfast during the week.
Last night I made a pumpkin soup. At lunch I whizzed up a few apples and a carrot with a little spinach and some pomegranate juice we had in the fridge. We had some and so did the dog. It was a nice snack/treat. I've used the mixer for three or four different things already. I plan to try making almond milk later. My goal is to make healthy soups and sauces and keep our meals salad based with a small serving of animal protein. Last night it was salmon. Tonight it will be venison/beef/pork sausage. I also used the mixer to make slop for the pup using frozen veggie odds and ends left in the freezer along with a bag of thawed frozen cranberries. Yes, my dog will eat (and loves) unsweetend whole cranberries.
My meals haven't necessarily been low fat or low calorie -- I used leftover cream cheese in the soup because I had to use it soon. Nuts have fats and calories -- but they have a healthy fat. I am just trying to eat more fresh foods and boost our protein and omega-3 intake using healthier sources.
I also wanted to answer a question for Pat based on yesterday's post. Blogger is not letting me bring up my comments or reply to them and I wanted her (and anyone else who is curious) to know that I usually use a teaspoon of egg shell per pound of meat. A good link explaining the importance of calcium in pet food is here.
There are other important aspects but calcium is the most important.

While Im the other Pat on your blogs. ..I was happy to see this info on calcium for pets. Ive bookmarked the site and plan on reading my way thru it. I really would rather feed my dog better stuff. While the dry kibble is ez, she seems to want our food more. I dont like to give her too much of it because she has a sensitive tummy as it is and because I know there are some things dogs shouldnt eat. But I read here about so many things you give yours that I wouldnt even think to give mine. And so I thought Id like to start doing this, what you do to at least use up some of our leftovers too.
