Happy Feet

I had to get winter boots -- finally.  The weather has been so mild that I had managed until now to go without.  I had off yesterday, so I went to Marshalls.  This pair of Technica Moon Boots were on clearance for 39 bucks and that makes me soooo happy.  If there is one thing I love, it's a pair of moon boots. If there is another thing I love, it's tan/butter suede.  And if there is another thing I love, it's a boot with shearling lining.  OK, this is faux.  But they are not faux "Moon Boots."  They are the real thing.

What was totally amazing about yesterday was that I could go from such giddy euphoria to absolute stress/terror.  OK, it wasn't enough that we had the appraisal done on our house (who would not be nervous about that?).  But I also found that the collision coverage on my soon to be five year old car was discontinued -- a month ago!!! I'm not going into the reason why. I got it cleared up today.  But I couldn't think rationally knowing the car that is almost paid off had no comprehensive coverage for physical damage.  I am just thankful I hadn't had an accident in the last month.  I worked from home today because I was not going to take my car out of the driveway!

Dinner is another thing that always makes me happy. Especially when we know so many in this world go hungry.  So after getting my car insurance straightened out and being in a happy place meant I was going to be able to sustain my glee by making a good dinner.

Some ladies like to look at shelves of items bought at little or no cost.  I like to look at fresh stuff.  Fresh colorful veggies and the like just make me feel good.  This meal was venison meatballs in a light marinara -- fresh tomatoes, sauce and chicken stock topped with fresh grated parm, Fontanella and mozzarella.  On the side, I steamed broccoli, carrots and spinach with almonds. I tossed in fresh chunks of orange and ground flax/sesame seeds and added a smidgen of butter and some EVOO.  I can't even tell you what a meal like this cost -- but it wasn't a lot.  I have made one small broccoli crown stretch out to three meals.  I get more than a week's worth of meals out of about seven dollars worth of cheese.

I can't look at my ingredients on a shelf and tally how much I paid or how much I saved when I bought them.  But I do get to look at a colorful couple of plates of food and get so say "YUM!"

So I guess I had happy feet, happy head and happy tummy today.

  3. Oh those boots -- I love furry, fuzzy, comfy things. When I was in Asheville this week, a lot of women at the conference were wearing those types of boots with leggings and dresses and they looked great -- really fun!
